by Chris Gulick:

Norris is an artist, an illustrator. Norris is a painter.

Norris’ forte is surrealistic abstract expressionism.

Kind of a Kadinsky-showed-Dali-what-to-do-while R. Crumb picked up-some-ideas type thing.

Norris is driven. Norris is motivated. Norris is prolific.

Norris’ works are spontaneous, while deliberate. Well executed while not overworked. Delirious while coherent. Indicative while non-specific.

Colors and shapes vacillate from a sleepy confusion to stark, sharp awareness.

Norris has been at this for years. Norris is good. Norris is…..well, is a recluse.

Norris must draw. Norris must paint.

Those needs are a driven, natural part of him.

I believe his work must been known, be seen, be appreciated.

Norris does not want you to meet him. Norris wishes to remain...recluse.

Left alone to draw. Left alone to paint. Left alone to live.

I suggest you take advantage of this rare opportunity.

Often art is implemented in therapeutic recovery.

Rarely a natural artist is reborn during such a process.

In several of these rarities, the person ceases to create after "graduating".

Norris has simply remained alive.

Viewing these works will draw you in. A magnetic influence of something familiar.

And then you find yourself standing, staring and attempting to define. Yet you cannot.

Norris paints where all of our minds have been, yet cannot recall.

A passive, yet nagging Déjà vu.
